This Cookie Policy explains how Remit-Scout uses cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, and improve our comparison platform. In the current staging/prod frontend runtime, non-essential categories stay off by default until you choose otherwise. We show a consent prompt before enabling those categories.
Important Information
Remit-Scout uses cookies to enhance your experience, ensure security, and improve our platform. Essential cookies support core functionality and security. Functional, analytics, and marketing categories remain off until you opt in. The banner stays visible until you make a choice, and you can revisit those settings later from the cookie settings modal on this page or disable only the marketing category from our Do Not Sell or Share page. Free pages may show Remit-Scout placements, but consent-gated marketing attribution and personalized marketing stay off until you enable them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help remember preferences, keep sessions secure, and provide anonymous usage insights. Cookies enable websites to recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language and other settings.
How we use cookies
Remit-Scout uses cookies for the following purposes:
- Essential operations: Enable core features like session security and site stability.
- Functional: Remember preferences like your last corridor and local UI choices when enabled.
- Analytics: Understand how people use Remit-Scout so we can improve accuracy and performance when enabled.
- Marketing: Personalized marketing and attribution on free surfaces (only after opt-in).
- Security: Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and protect the service.
Types of cookies we use
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for the website to function properly. These cookies cannot be disabled.
- Functional cookies: Remember local preferences like your corridor and UI choices after you enable them.
- Analytics cookies: Help us measure usage patterns and improve the experience after you opt in.
- Marketing cookies: Used for marketing attribution and personalized marketing after you opt in.
We do not use cookies to sell personal data. If we introduce new categories in the future, we will update this policy and request consent where required by law.
Our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page turns off only the marketing category for the current browser and clears Remit-Scout's local attribution storage. Functional and analytics settings remain separate so you can review them in Cookie preferences. It does not, by itself, delete cookies already set by third-party vendors.
Manage your preferences
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or accept cookies, or to delete existing cookies. In the current staging/prod frontend, the banner is shown until you make a choice, and non-essential categories remain off until you opt in. Signed-in users can also have these choices synced to their account. Turning off a category stops future Remit-Scout-initiated loads for that category, but browser or vendor tools may still be needed to remove cookies that were already set. Please note that disabling certain cookies may limit your ability to use some features of our platform.
Third-party services
Some infrastructure, analytics, and advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies. Where required by law, analytics and marketing tools run only after you opt in. In the deployed staging/prod frontend, browser-side analytics and attribution requests go directly to our `/api/v1` endpoints rather than through a frontend server proxy. Free pages may show first-party Remit-Scout promotional placements, but we do not currently embed a third-party ad-serving SDK in the shipped frontend. Providers are contractually required to protect data and use it only for the configured purposes.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. The updated version will include a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
